Lenses MSD Meniscus Trial Case Lenses have been developed according to the most advanced techniques, in order to determinate the refractive error of the human eye. In 1980 MSD was the first in Europe producin trial lenses corresponding exactly to spectacle lenses. The realisation of MSD lenses is brought about by the collaboration of the best experts in optical technologies: the success of our products is confirmed by commercial results.

The peculiar characteristic of MSD trial lenses is the «meniscus» shape: they reflect the typical concave-convex geometry of the common spectacle lenses. If the visual testing is executed with meniscus trial lenses , the optical agreement between prescription and final spectacle lenses will be better than the one obtained using conventional bi-concave and bi-convex trial lenses. Lenses The materials used manufacturing our trial lenses are first-quality goods:
  • clear ophthalmic mineral glass «crown» B270 Deutsche Spezialglas AG, with refractive index n(d)=1,5230 and Abbe value n(e)=58,3 is used for the lenses;
  • the mounts are produced using natural shockproof A.B.S. (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) resin;
  • cases and cabinets are manufactured by specialized craftsmen and joiner employing materials resistant and with an excellent level of superficial finishing touches.

    • Our lenses are manufactured following the international standard requirements specified in ISO 9801:1997 «Ophthalmic instruments - Trial case lenses» and are compatible with every kind of trial frames built in conformity with ISO 12867:1998 «Ophthalmic instruments - Trial frames».

    MSD sells its trial lenses in many different composition ( 96 Meniscus Trial Lenses "Doclenses" Sets - 148 Meniscus Trial Lenses Sets - 236 Meniscus Trial Lenses Sets - all the sets are available even without positive spherotoric lenses) and with many different containers (tray, cases, beechwood or briarwood or shockproof varnished cases and cabinets, vertical walled and table cases with sliding cover, cabinets with drawers and Plexiglas® cover). MSD production includes even many other different ophthalmic accessories .
